AIDS in the world
AIDS is spreading over de world like a true pandemic. Over forty million people have been infected with the HIV virus. The problem is particularly severe in Africa with over twenty five million Aids patients. Yearly three million people die of the disease, a significant number of which are children. The social economic consequences of the pandemic are enormous. A large part of the working population has fallen by the wayside, functioning independently becomes impossible, families are disrupted and children have to abandon their education. The battle against poverty has become even more complicated since the AIDS pandemic. In Kenya more than two million people are infected with HIV.
